A few months ago we started an important collaboration with the American College of Greece that we would like to share with you! The American College of Greece, as part of its sustainability program, has joined forces with Boroume in the "Boroume at the Farmers’ Market" program "adopting" the actions at the Holargos’ Farmers’ Market. Already, from the end of November 2018, when the actions started in Holargos, with the help of the volunteers of the American College of Greece, more than 1.500 kilos of fruits and vegetables have been offered to the Holy Church of Faneromeni, Holargos for the needs of the people the church supports.
As the American College of Greece representative notes regarding the cooperation in the "Boroume at the Farmers’ Market" program:
“It is very nice to be part of such a meaningful and hands-on initiative. An initiative sitting right at the heart of sustainability, connected to all three pillars (economy, society, environment), and effectively combating two key issues at the same time: minimizing food waste and providing food to people in need. Most importantly, bringing people together from all sides of the society spectrum – from the young student volunteer, to the producer at the market, to the church volunteers, to the person who gets a proper meal – to help one another. Leaving the farmers market every Monday at 15:50, we always feel a bit more complete by knowing that people have not given up on the idea of helping others in period of need. This warms our hearts!”
From our side we would like to say a big heartfelt thank you to the entire team of the American College of Greece for their support and excellent cooperation.
You too can recommend to your company/organization to participate in the program "Boroume at the Farmers’ Market" and create a team of volunteers with your colleagues in order to support people who really need it, in a different way.
