European Union action agenda to reduce food waste by 2030

Thu 12 December 2019

Europe strongly states "Time’s up for food waste! Setting the EU action agenda towards 2030”.

With particular interest we participate today (12.12.19) in Brussels at a public conference dedicated to the prevention of food waste, organised by the European Commission, under the auspices of the Finnish Presidency to the Council of the EU.

The event, held on occasion of the 7th meeting of the EU Platform on Food Losses and Food Waste (which Boroume participates in), will help shape the EU action agenda to achieve the global target of halving food waste by 2030 (UN sustainable Development Goal 12.3).

During the Conference, policies, initiatives and actions implemented at global, European, national and local levels will be presented with the aim of preventing food waste.

Central to the event is the discussion and adoption of recommendations for action aimed at preventing food loss and waste at every stage of the food supply chain (primary production, processing, retail, food consumption). Special mention is provided for the promotion of food redistribution/donation.

The recommendations address and call for the mobilisation of all parties – public and private – in the context of an integrated and holistic approach to tackling food waste.

With enthusiasm and perseverance, and help from all of you, Boroume can continue to contribute to this collective effort!
