Boroume participates in the conference "Sharing Futures"

Thu 24 October 2019

On 26-27 September, we had the honour of participating in the specialised workshop "Sharing Futures" of the Trinity University of Dublin SHARECITY programme with funding from the European Research Council.

The workshop brought together academics, policymakers, social entrepreneurs and experts on food and food redistribution from many countries with the aim of investigating practices and examining the sustainability of different types of food distribution in an urban environment. The basis of the Conference was the multi-annual survey of the SHARECITY programme, which has highlighted -amongst other things- the many challenges of making good policies to support food redistribution initiatives.

During the workshop we had the opportunity to exchange information with organisations, initiatives and academics dealing in the same field as us, we discussed what kind of policies facilitate or discourage the redistribution of food, and proposed together with the other participants a series of ideas and policies, which were deemed necessary in order to be in a better position in the future to save and offer food to those in need.

We warmly thank SHARECITY and Trinity College Dublin for this very useful workshop!
