"Boroume at the Farmers’ Market" with the support of The Hellenic Initiative Australia

Thu 10 January 2019

Two more farmers’ markets were recently added to the collaborations of the program "Boroume at the Farmers’ Market", those of Korydallos and Holargos. With these two new partnerships, the farmers’ markets that participate in the program now amount to 22 (5 of which operate in Thessaloniki).

Just in 2018, the collaborating farmers' markets, through the program, have offered local charitable institutions over 110 tons of fresh fruit and vegetables for people in need of food.

All the above have been achieved mainly thanks to the support of The Hellenic Initiative Australia, which for the third consecutive year covers 100% of the "Boroume in the Farmers’ Market" program’s funding.

In addition to funding the program, THI Australia also supports us with the dispersing of information about Boroume’s work and attracts volunteers from Australia, who in the last 2 years have contributed substantially to the staffing of our local volunteer groups per farmers’ market.

So we thank THI Australia from the bottom of our hearts for the opportunity it gives us to save hundreds of kilos of fresh fruits and vegetables every day from farmers’ markets and offer them to people in need.
