A few days ago we had the pleasure of visiting the preschool nursery "The Dolphins" to read with our little friends about the actions of "Dinosaur" and to talk with them about the issue of food waste and about giving.
The actions of the first two operating weeks of the program "Boroume at the Farmers’ Market" in the farmers’ markets of Ntepo, Stavroupoli and Agios Dimitrios in Thessaloniki were successfully completed!
More than 37 tons of fresh fruits and vegetables were "saved" from January to April 2018 with the cooperation of Boroume’s volunteers, the vendors of 16 farmers’ markets..
The motto of Boroume is "Every meal matters" and by this we mean that every day we do our best to save and offer every food donation entrusted to us, always to the appropriate local recipient charity.
It is with immense pleasure that a few days ago we started cooperating with the non-profit organization The Tipping Point in Education to disseminate our message to schools all over Greece.
Recently we had the opportunity to meet and discuss matters with the Kidney Patients Association in Kastoria which has been operating since 1998 to support 70 people in need of food and other essentials.
Thanks to the easiest, quickest and direct way of the Boroume method of saving & offering food, we connect donations with food needs in order to reduce food waste and increase support to people who face food insecurity or poverty.
About 30% of agricultural production in Greece and worldwide never leaves the farm because it does not meet the strict marketing standards or because the market price is lower than the cost of the harvest.
