Volunteering in Boroume during the pandemic period

Wed 18 November 2020

For many months now we have been experiencing without doubt one of the most difficult times in recent years worldwide. A period that has upset almost all areas of our lives has affected us all in different ways and has brought us face to face with many unprecedented experiences and emotions. In this turbulent period, there are some people who, in defiance of adverse circumstances and situations, insist on putting others first, in their desire to support and contribute where there is a need, without selfishness or personal gain.

The pandemic may have deprived us of volunteers in our office to a great extent, but many volunteers continue to support us from their homes, while most choose to support the Boroume at the Farmers’ Market program. With their positive mood and big smile, they are participating even now in the work of Boroume with the aim of "saving" food and supporting charitable institutions and people in need. But what motivates these people?

Dora believes that giving is very important, especially during this time. The concern is there, but her need to give and receive positive energy through volunteering motivates her to overcome fear and continue to contribute in her own way through the work of Boroume. So she continues to offer, always observing the necessary safety measures.

Savvas recently joined our team. The pandemic has not affected him so much that he considers it an obstacle to volunteering, as we observe all the necessary safety measures. He decided to become a volunteer of Boroume to meet good people and to reciprocate the selfless support he received when he faced difficult situations in his life, thus expressing his gratitude for the support he has received so far.

All of us at Boroume consider ourselves blessed to have the joy of having people like Dora and Savvas on our team. Positive, measured people who, while they may have ensured their quality of life, do not forget that next to us are some less fortunate people who fight very hard, often for the obvious. By supporting the work of Boroume, in any way anyone can, the volunteers of Boroume have a positive impact on the lives of many people. We truly thank all our volunteers for their support and help, especially during this difficult time.
