The students of the school of Ursulines go to the market for.. a good cause!

Fri 21 June 2019

In May we had the pleasure of cooperating with the Greek-French School of Ursulines in a special way! The students of the High School participated in two programs of Boroume, in the "Boroume at the Farmers’ Market" and "Boroume at School", combining in this way the educational part to reduce food waste with an experiential action in two farmers’ markets, in Papagou and in the Ellinoroson area. The eleven students of the High School who participated voluntarily in the actions gathered within 2 hours more than 650 kilos of fresh fruit and vegetables, which the producers were unable to sell, and which were offered directly to two charitable organisations to support their beneficiaries.

A few days later, in the context of the educational program "Boroume at School", students of all grades of high school had the opportunity to be informed by volunteers of Boroume on how we can all reduce food waste and to talk with Mr. Pantelis Moschos, President of the Panhellenic Federation of Producer Associations of agricultural products, on the issues of the production process of food, what are the consequence of their wastage, their supply through the farmers’ markets and other relevant Issues.

This beautiful collaboration with the Greek-French School of Ursulines is expected to continue with the participation of students of the school in other actions in the future, thus offering the opportunity to even more students on the one hand to be informed about reducing food wastage, as well as the meaning and value of volunteering.
