Saving Food Festival: A beautiful celebration dedicated to the reduction of food waste

Wed 25 April 2018

We feel particular joy for the Saving Food Festival that we organized together with WWF Hellas and Impact Hub Athens, on Saturday March 3, 2018!

For all the following and even more reasons!

A creative collaboration with WWF Hellas and Impact Hub Athens, as well as with all the contributors of the event.

Dozens of volunteers full of enthusiasm and willingness to offer.

Active citizens who wanted to learn more about the problem of food waste, and to be informed on how they can assist in the food rescue and redistribution activities through Boroume and SavingFood.

Our young friends, who learned more about food waste, environmental protection and solidarity, are ready to become Food Saving Heroes.

Our beloved "DINOSAUR", who with Alexandra K * and Dikaios Chatziplis took the young -and older- children on a journey through the world of surplus food donations.

Delicious recipe suggestions for the use of surplus food and tasting, "secrets" and tips to reduce food waste at home, were shared with us by food bloggers Mamatsita and Madame Ginger.

Fresh fruits and vegetables, gathered in the framework of activities of the program "Boroume at the Farmers’ Market", were saved and converted into hundreds of nutritious salads by chefs Stelios Mastorako and Kleomeni Zournatzi and dozens of volunteers.

350 food portions were offered-through a large human chain-to two soup kitchens in the center of Athens in support of our fellow people in need.

We all left with beautiful commemorative photos that Photopartybox offered us, while simultaneously spreading the message in favor of "ugly" fruits and vegetables.

We would like to say a big thank you from the heart to all those who contributed and participated in this beautiful celebration aimed at raising awareness of the Food Waste issue.

Special thanks go to all the volunteers who supported us, and to the Ethelon team that we had the pleasure of having with us!

For their support in the implementation of the event we also thank the companies DDB for the design of the event t-shirt, and Promitheftiki for the supply of crates from a neighbouring store.
