Friends of Boroume from Australia participate as volunteers in "Boroume at the Farmers’ Market"

Tue 09 May 2017
With great joy we welcomed a special group of friends of Boroume to our family of volunteers of the program Boroume at the Farmers’ Market. The family Mitaros, Rebecca and Madeleine Mangos and Anthony and Emmanuel Penklis were in our country for a short while through the voluntary programme of The Hellenic Initiative Australia, the Greek diaspora organization that invests in the future of Greece through charitable actions and economic aid.

They chose to offer some time during their vacation to support, through Boroume, people in need and to experience up close the programme Boroume at the Farmers’ Market. Boroume’s friends from Australia participated in 3 different markets (in Halandri, in the Ellinoroson area and in Byrona) collecting excess fruit and vegetables which were offered on site to local charitable institutions for the beneficiaries.

They were impressed by the generosity in giving and the warmth of the vendors and customers of the farmers’ market, who praised them for their participation in the volunteer program. Our friends returned back home with the best impressions, promising that they would return to help again, and urging others to participate as volunteers in the program. Boroume thanks our friends from Australia and

The Hellenic Initiative Australia wholeheartedly, particularly for their support and the passionate interest in Boroume’s work. We also await with joy more volunteers from Australia who have responded to the call of The Hellenic Initiative Australia to also welcome them into the family of Boroume.
