World Book Day celebration with Dinosaur

Tue 09 May 2017
With great pleasure, we celebrated this year's World Book Day with Boroume’s friend the Dinosaur, Antonis Papatheodoulou and Alexandra K*, Patakis Publications, as well as the first guests of the New Children’s Library of the Municipality of Athens!

The Dinosaur was presented by its creators to the children and their parents who participated in the event. So what’s the special characteristic of the hero? “ It’s incredible how much joy he gets when he gives! He gives to anyone in need, and gives wherever he goes. And that’s why his given name stems from “dino” – which in Greek means “to give”.

The children together with the authors experimented with the creative ideas of the Dinosaur - how he could ‘beam’ the left over food and transport it to those in need. His imaginative inventions include the Parachute Toast, the Helichili Pepper and “Spinachcopter”.

Although the experiments with flying food didn’t have the desired results, no one gave up. If food can’t fly by itself, there must be another way for it to get where it’s needed. A solution was found and so the Dinosaur and his friends were able to save and to offer the left over food from the grocery store "Great Cabbages ', the Patisserie" Buck-Lava", other stores, as well as private caves.. of dinosaurs.

And the cherry on the cake? As the book’s authors revealed, sometimes fairy tales do happen in real life. Like the Dinosaur, Boroume can arrange for- "those who offer and those who need food, to bring them together on a map". Such a map was designed by the children, giving us good ideas as to where there could be left over food to rescue & offer. Thanks, Dinosaur, for bringing us together with new friends of Boroume!

And a big thank you to everyone who participated in this heartwarming event!
