Boroume at the Farmers' Market: The contribution of students to food rescue

Wed 10 December 2025

"Boroume at the Farmers' Market" program continues with stability and dedication to rescue fresh fruits and vegetables from farmers' markets, offering practical help to people in need. With this initiative, waste is drastically reduced as fruits and vegetables that would end up in the trash are turned into valuable food for people in need. Their contribution to local charitable organizations shows that this effort not only has an environmentally positive impact but is also socially meaningful.

This success would not have been possible without the people who support us every day. In particular, we want to express our deep gratitude to the students who do an internship with us, giving their own valuable support.

Thanks to their participation, they have made a practical contribution to the cause of food rescue with around 47 tons of fruit and vegetables from September 2025 until today. In addition, under the guidance of Boroume, they have supported 5 charitable organizations with their work, with a systematic and daily contribution, essentially proving their solidarity and active social participation.

Their work is not only significant in terms of quantity but also brings a breath of hope and love to people experiencing food insecurity.

A big "thank you" to the students participating in the internship, to all the volunteers, to the producers and sellers of the farmers' markets, to the charitable organizations and of course to The Hellenic Initiative Australia, which supports the program for the 10th consecutive year. Thanks to your contributions, every unsold fruit and vegetable gains new life and turns into food, support and hope.
